This pattern is based on a design we found covering an old Japanese chapbook from the early 1900s, featuring traditional ukiyo-e art and based on the history of Buddhism. We then created an expanded version large enough for a print, and hand-carved the pattern in a block of cherry wood.

Prints are hand printed on our printing press from 1910.
