I would typically purchase the fountain pen version of the Kaweco Sport, but I wanted to try something different with the Lunar Sport. Thus, I have picked the rollerball version.
Typically, rollerball pens use a water based ink, but this pen feels like more of a gel pen, but that is okay.
Anyhoo, the most eye-catching detail is the beautiful and euphoric “Shadow Blue” color scheme. Under certain light angles, it can switch colors from blue to purple/violet, or the other way around. It is one of those pens that you’ll stare at it more than write with it. That is how good looking it is.
Moving on to the writing experience. Because of the Sport’s design, there is a balanced and almost “complete” feel while writing with it, especially when you post the cap. It does feel a bit springy, which I like. When I disassembled the pen, there is an internal spring up in the pen’s nose cone that keeps the refill firmly in place (and also gives the springy feeling while committing to my down strokes specifically).
Overall, I really enjoy using this pen, especially that it brings me back to the good times when I thought that gel pens were the best thing ever. However, I still do enjoy the Sport fountain pens, and I have actually recently bought the “Shadow Green” fountain pen of the Lunar Sport, so now I can match the Shadow Blue with it!
Highly recommend this product for a typical person looking for a nice pen or a veteran enthusiast who simply enjoys the Kaweco Sport series and its new Shadow Blue variant of the Kaweco Lunar Sport.
